As in the entire life, self-adjusting and integration are rewarded also in the international business. Exceptions are in fact wanted highlights and point out the particular and the “not usual”. Economic growth requires infrastructure and infrastructure shall be covered by economic growth.Exactly these rules and exactly this interaction are accommodated by the Zoz Centers.Whenever it comes down to nanostructured materials and their manufacturing by high kinetic processing (HKP), Zoz GmbH as the core-company of Zoz Group can be indicated as the global player. The proceeding distribution and propagation of Zoz-equipment in the entire world requires more and more not only simple subsidiaries or commercial agencies but service centers that next to Zoz-technology also supply competence in materials science and engineering locally. In general, as for any development, innovation or improvement, also materials design makes most sense, if the achievements are scattered as broadly as possible and can be applied in large scale with sustained success. Then, because of quantities, the commodity flows have to be taken into account. Materials shall be manufactured where they are required which is valid in any case if the raw materials are available locally as well. This saves energy and logistics and contributes at high efficiency to the preservation of our planet. In return, such scattering in particular beyond cultural barriers, can supply an enrichment not only of ideas and perspective but also down to earth can contribute to a locally opportunistic business understanding.

Download Abstract Prof. Dr. Ameyama:
The goal of the Zoz-Rits Center is to promote Zoz technology and business in Japan as well as to develop advanced and most frequently nanostructured materials on site. Additionally a small scale manufacturing of the same is offered which is oriented in the range of several kilos up to a few tons per month. This all is done in close cooperation with the College of Science & Engineering of RitsumeikanUniversity under the direction of Prof. Dr. Kei Ameyama.
The Center focuses on
and additionally provides
by utilizing Zoz global infrastructure and/or by means of a close co-operation with the nearby university in order to offer solutions in materials science and process engineering in applications like nanocrystalline & amorphous materials, ODS, MMC, MCC, CCC as well as M/C-Polymer compounds in the field of advanced materials for industry, life, energy and nature-saving. There are already super important and highly appreciated customers in Japan, such as Asahi Diamond,Fukuda Metal Foil & Powder, Sumitomo Denko, Panasonic, Toyota and Mitsubishi heavy Industries et al. Japan insofar represents a very important hemisphere and also for the future does offer a huge development capability in volume. Consequently one of the first Zoz-Centers must be right there. Next to this, Japanese Customers do have extremely high requirements to any foreign supplier which makes this market to appear quite difficult from a European point of view. Highest care and particular attention is a must and also a direct presence with more than just an office an important goal.Last but not least, Japan for us does provide and offer an excellent business environment with good growth capability which is another major driving force for the activities in Kusatsu.
The Zoz-Rits Center is an independent company inside Zoz Group representing all Zoz products and services in the Center’s hemisphere. This predominantly for Zoz GmbH which means for advanced materials and their processing and manufacturing. The Center is operated in cooperation with theCollege of Science & Engineering of Ritsumeikan University as well as Syntana (Harke Group) in Germany and Tokyo and entertains floor space at the techno-complex inside the campus of the university. In particular to cover materials-characterization needs and human resources requirements, this cooperation does offer an allover beneficial and fruitful symbiosis from and for education, research and industry.
In general the Center shall be developed in different stages:The initial start-up has been the installation of the overall representation of Zoz Group and in particular Zoz GmbH in Japan. This did include the set-up of at least one more Zoz laboratory scale equipment (CM01) and Zoz semi-industrial equipment (CM08) in a kind of laboratory-, techno- and service (maintenance) center operation. Achievement of this stage is scheduled for November 2008.The second stage will cover the active exploration of the Japanese market for the presently major promising and most general applications as also given under “highlights”.For this we will locally assign diploma theses and dissertations,
organize international workshops with a domestic focus and start small scale commercial materials manufacturing which from today’s point of view in particular will focus on ductile metal flakes, paint & lacquers as well as on nanostructured ceramic and composite-materials.By that time, a service-division of the Center shall have grown so that all service and maintenance for all Japanese customers and for all kind of Zoz-equipment can be provided domestically within Japan since for some range of the equipment, this still today is done ex Zoz headquarter in Germany. The College of Science & Engineering of Ritsumeikan University since years already operates a laboratory scale Simoloyer® CM01-2lm. In October 2008 we installed a larger Simoloyer®-unit CM08-08lm in auto-batch operation mode (-s2). In early 2009 another laboratory scale Simoloyer® CM01-2lm has been be set-up and in the future the CM08-unit shall be extended to the semi-continuous operation mode (-s1). This equipment in initial configuration covers stage I for temporary manufacturing of ductile metal flakes, high performance cement etc. for demonstration processing, workshops and explorations of new and in particular nanostructured materials systems, required by the local area and others. In extended set-up mode, this equipment will cover stage II for commercial small scale materials manufacturing where additionally we will bring materials-passivation units in particular for Al-based materials into the Center.

How to find, travel & accommodation The Kansai Airport (Osaka), an international hub is about 2 hours away and there are as everywhere inJapan excellent transportation connections. The national airport Osaka-Itami is significantly closer at a transfer-distance of about one hour. From Kansei Airport, every 30 minutes the Kansei-Airport-Express (Haruka, JR-superfast train) operates at a transfer-time of 01:15 h to Kyoto main station. From Itami-airport, Kyoto main station is serviced by convenient busses at a transfer-time of about 40 minutes on an hourly schedule. From Kyoto main station, the commuter train (JR-local) operates within 8 minutes to Otsu-station. By choosing the south-exit at Otsu-station and entering the right hand side elevator, one arrives right in the lobby of the „the b otsu“-hotel, which is also the conference-hotel of OZ-symposium. In front of the hotel, there is a bus terminal from where you can reach the Rits-Campus within another 15 minutes either by bus or taxi.In case you are planning a visit from outside Japan, please contact Zoz Travel at travel (at) zoz.de If you need to stay overnight, we can most frequently offer a super-advanced rate at the 4-star „the botsu“-hotel. In any case Zoz Travel will help you with all kind of travel, local transportation and booking services.
